THE FIELD HOUSE

WESTPORT, MA

This new home is an addition to a larger family property. The intention is to allow the house to rest within the meadow and provide the owners with ample views of the surrounding landscape. The 18.6 kW solar array is currently providing enough electricity to support all of the home’s electrical needs. There is a hybrid ducted HVAC system in place, with propane available for a generator & back-up heat in extreme cold

The primary dwelling spaces occupy the ground floor, with direct access outdoors from almost every room. The more compact Second Floor provides supplemental living space including home offices, gym, and a Guest Bedroom. The homeowners wanted to create a “forever home” with light-filled spaces, but also more secluded, cozy spaces, all nestled into the woods edge.

This home is designed for gathering and entertaining, with a generous open floor plan, chef’s kitchen, baking station, full pantry, custom wine room, and multiple stone terraces. The selected materials throughout are rich in texture and color. Rustic White Oak floors and beams, Cherry island and shelving, softly leathered gray granite, and glazed terra cotta tiles are all pulled together with a subtle green/blue custom cabinet. Limestone and zellige tiles create a luxurious but soothing Primary Bath suite, which also includes a door directly out to an outdoor shower. The final result is warm and welcoming. The wonderfully eclectic furnishings and lighting, along with the carefully curated art collection, complete the home.
